Star-studded concert returns even bigger
An incredible line-up of South African music stars celebrates Women’s Day on Sunday 9 August with a charity concert at the Grand Arena, GrandWest.
Every year on 9 August we celebrate Women’s Day in South Africa, a public holiday that praises the phenomenal women of our nation. Acknowledging their strength, solidarity, determination and forward movement, DIVAS UNITE will celebrate the mothers, the wives, the sisters and the daughters of our rainbow nation in an unique concert to take place at the Grand Arena, GrandWest.
On Tuesday 9 August (public holiday) at 15h00, men, women, families, friends, children, couples and music lovers alike are invited to watch the Grand Arena come alive with the sound of music of inspirational female artists who have played an integral part in the development of the South African music industry.
These include performances by The Voice SA finalist Thembeka Mnguni, inspirational singer Rouchelle Liedemann, SAMA Award-winning group BlackByrd, legendary mother and daughter Judy Page and Kim Kallie, Magdalene Minnaar who just recently performed together with Josh Groban, musical star Lynelle Kenned (Westside Story), Cape Town’s very own rising Jazz star Adelia Douw as well as musical multi-talent Bev Scott-Brown.
All of them performing with an all-female Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
An exciting addition to Divas Unite will be a performance by the winner of the Divas Unite Young Divas Singing Competition 2016, where 40 girls between 8 and 18 competing in live auditions at the V&A Waterfront for the one spot on the big stage!
SA’s top TV Presenter Katlego Maboe joins us as MC as we, and fellow Capetonians and guests from around the country, celebrate a significant day in South African history.
