In the heart of the Cape Winelands

AUGUST 2014 – In the last few weeks, Opulent Living founders Barbara Lenhard and Florian Gast have had the opportunity to visit two lavish five star boutique hotels in the heart of the Cape Winelands, The Light House Boutique Suites and Angala Boutique Hotel & Guest House.

For their weekend break-away from the hustle and bustle of Cape Town, they stayed over at The Light House Boutique Suites in the historic town of Paarl. Located just 45 minutes from the Mother City and a stone’s throw from Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, the beautiful residence of The Light House was like ‘stepping into a house in the Hamptons,’ expressed Florian.

The five star boutique hotel, which formerly was a private residence, boasts five creatively-themed suites that are accordingly named to reflect the luxurious interior design and decoration. According to the boutique hotel itself this was personally navigated down to the last detail with bespoke furniture, soft furnishings, luxurious fabrics, Egyptian cotton bed linen and objects d’art. The multiple distinguished suites include Afro-ChicThe HamptonsBedford ManorManhattan, and Mayfair. Compliments also go to Darrol and Hendrik who went out of their way to make Barbara and Florian’s stay very special and treated them like royalty with their fantastic hospitality.

The attention to detail is immaculate in the entire boutique hotel from the magnificent interior design that looks like it has stepped out of a Ralph Lauren brochure to the exquisite and decadent presentation of the breakfast serving. It is a definite Opulent Living recommendation if you are seeking a private getaway from the busy city life.

Following this, Barbara and Florian have also had the opportunity to sojourn at the Angala Boutique Hotel and Guest House in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Nestled between Franschhoek and the Simonsberg Nature Reserve, there is plenty to explore in the area from discovering the beautiful Franschhoek vineyards and the Wine Route to golfing excursions.

The look and feel of the five star boutique hotel and guesthouse is out-worldly where earthiness and rustic meets contemporary and modern. Their suites and cottages are spacious, fully-equipped and private. As described by Angala, they have paid special attention to decoration and finer details – clean lines and natural colours are paired with authentic touches throughout. In their rooms and on their premises are carefully selected decoration items, sculptures and pieces, each with a unique origin and story.

One of the most unique features on their premises is the Eco Pool. Unlike ordinary, crystal-clear pools, the Eco Pool recreates the natural filtering process as found in mountain streams, rivers and ponds. Seemingly, it appears to be a pond at first sight, but one can experience the beauty of this pristine ecosystem through a daily dip, or simply admire the marvels of nature from the side.
Opulent Living recommends Angala Boutique Hotel and Guest House as perfect retreat to unwind and relax.
