South Africa’s number one golf estate turns 25

The luxury golf and leisure estate Fancourt ( in the heart of South Africa’s legendary Garden Route celebrates its 25th birthday this year. Renovations underway

Sandwiched between the Outeniqua Mountain Range and the Indian Ocean, a four-and-a-half-hour drive from Cape Town, the 613-hectare estate turned into one of the region’s landmarks when Dr Plattner took over ownership in 1994, and will now be even more stylish, thanks to the renovations of both of its hotels and some of the restaurant facilities. The facelift will be complete by September and covers new floors, doorways, walls, furniture, as well as resurfacing of the terrace areas. The estate includes two hotels (the exclusive 18-room Manor House and the 115-room Fancourt Hotel), three Gary Player-designed golf courses, an opulent spa, four swimming pools, an impressive Kids Club and four restaurants.
